Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at the Prince Rupert Regional Hospital. In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, this position practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as well as within a patient and family centered care model.
The Registered Nurse - Emergency/High Acuity, working collaboratively with the interprofessional team, plans and provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, providing and evaluating nursing care to clients with various complex health care issues, from non-urgent to life threatening to patients in the Emergency & High Acuity departments. The Registered Nurse demonstrates a specialized body of knowledge and bases practice on nursing science and related content from other sciences and humanities.
Rotation / Hours of Work
Evenings, Nights, 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00 (rotating).

Qualifications- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing and registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as a practicing RN registrant.
- Completion of a recognized combined Emergency & High Acuity specialty program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Canadian Triage Acuity Scale (CTAS), Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessments and provide nursing care through prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety-type interventions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families/caregivers, the public, medical staff and the interprofessional team using verbal, written and computer communication means.
- Ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data to problem-solve effectively.
- Ability to promote person-focused care that respects diverse cultures and preferences, resident advocacy, and social justice concerns.
- Ability to convey information to instruct patients, families/caregivers and others about health topics.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Fosters staff morale, cooperation, assertiveness, and proactive change; supports NH policies and ongoing professional development.
- Uses evidence-based practice and integrates best practices from nursing and related disciplines into professional practice.
- Ability to operate related equipment including relevant computer applications.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
