Position Summary
Registered Nurse - Perinatal
Location:
Prince Rupert Regional Hospital, Prince Rupert, BC.
The Registered Nurse will work collaboratively with an inter‑professional team to plan and provide direct patient care to obstetrical patients during the intra‑partum, postpartum, and high‑risk ante‑partum periods, as well as other assigned patients. The role requires assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care in accordance with the standards of qualified practice and the code of ethics as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
Shift/ Hours
Evening and night rotations (07:00‑19:00, 19:00‑07:00, rotating).
Responsibilities- Assess, plan, provide, and evaluate nursing care for obstetrical patients.
- Work collaboratively with the inter‑professional team to deliver patient‑centered care.
- Operate and maintain relevant equipment and computer applications.
- Document and communicate patient status and care plans effectively.
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with BCCNM.
- Completion of a recognized Perinatal Nursing specialty program.
- One (1) year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Current CPR and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certificate, and Current Fetal Health Surveillance Course Certificate.
- Clinical proficiency in the designated clinical area and ability to recognize acuity changes.
- Ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessment and apply maternal/fetal/newborn theory to provide nursing care.
- Effective verbal, written, and electronic communication skills with patients, families, and the inter‑professional team.
- Promotion of person‑centered care, empathy, cultural sensitivity, and patient advocacy.
- Ability to integrate and evaluate data from multiple sources to problem‑solve effectively.
- Teaching and instruction of patients and families on health‑related topics.
- Organization, prioritization, and promotion of cooperation among team members.
- Use of evidence‑based practice and relevant research to support nursing decisions.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
