Red Kite School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic School Cook to join our team. This role is key to providing nutritious, high-quality meals while maintaining a safe, welcoming, and hygienic environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.

About the Role

As School Cook, you will lead our kitchen team and ensure that all pupils and staff enjoy balanced, delicious meals. You will combine creativity, organisation, and leadership to support the health and wellbeing of everyone at the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare nutritious menus that meet pupils’ dietary needs, including special requirements
  • Supervise and manage kitchen staff to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Monitor stocks, maintain portion control, and manage resources efficiently within budget
  • Set up and clean down kitchen areas before and after use, maintaining hygiene and safety standards
  • Minimise food waste through careful planning and preparation
  • Ensure all meals comply with food safety regulations

Who We’re Looking For

  • Experienced and skilled in preparing nutritious meals in a school or similar environment
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills
  • Committed to maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety
  • Creative, reliable, and enthusiastic with a passion for supporting pupils’ wellbeing
