January 2027 UK applicants only – no sponsorship available About the Role As an SEN Teacher, you’ll have the opportunity to do exactly that. We’re looking for a passionate and creative SEN Teacher to join our specialist school and help young people overcome barriers, discover their strengths and achieve things they may never have thought possible. This is a role where relationships matter just as much as results.
You’ll get to know each pupil as an individual, understand how they learn best and create lessons that build confidence, curiosity and a genuine love of learning. Whether you’re an experienced SEN teacher or an excellent mainstream teacher ready for a new challenge, we’ll give you the support, training and professional development to thrive in specialist education. No two days are the same but every day gives you the chance to make a lasting difference.
What you will be doing Plan and deliver engaging, creative and highly personalised lessons that meet a wide range of learning needs. Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, creating a classroom where they feel safe, understood and motivated to learn. Adapt your teaching to remove barriers and help every young person experience success. Set meaningful goals, track progress and celebrate the small wins and major milestones along the way.
Develop and review personalised learning plans, including IEPs and behaviour support strategies. Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, therapists, families and other professionals to provide joined-up support. Promote positive behaviour through consistency, compassion and high expectations. Contribute to a positive, nurturing and inclusive school culture where every pupil is encouraged to believe in themselves.
What You’ll Bring Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent required. A genuine passion for helping children and young people overcome barriers to learning. Creativity, flexibility and the ability to adapt teaching to individual needs. A calm, patient and resilient approach, with the confidence to support pupils with additional needs. Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues and wider professionals.
Experience or training in IT or Music would be desirable. Experience working within SEN, Autism, SEMH or specialist education is highly desirable, but we also encourage applications from mainstream teachers who are looking to make the move into specialist education. Full support and ongoing professional development will be provided. About Us Red Kite School is an independent special school for up to 60 young people aged 11–18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Opened in September 2024, the school is located in the beautiful market town of Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire. We provide a safe, nurturing and supportive environment where every young person is understood, valued and encouraged to thrive. Our experienced team creates a calm, structured environment where pupils build confidence, resilience and achieve positive outcomes through personalised learning, high expectations and strong relationships.
Our curriculum develops the knowledge, emotional resilience, social communication and life skills pupils need to succeed in education, their communities and beyond, helping every young person become a confident learner, responsible citizen and prepared for their future. Acorn Education offers rewarding careers and meaningful challenges while making a real difference in young people’s lives. As a leading UK provider of specialist education for children and young people with special educational needs, and part of Outcomes First Group, we deliver innovative, evidence-based approaches that support measurable progress and lasting impact.
