Responsibilities- Problem solve and optimize processes in machining, assembly, pack and freight processes
- Assist Engineers with designing, running, testing and upgrading existing and new production processes
- Develop and maintain all process documentation (e.g., routings, standard work, work instructions, setup sheets, time studies) to ensure accuracy
- Analyze proposed changes for manufacturing impact and feasibility
- Consult with vendors to determine product specifications, arrange equipment, and purchase material and parts
- Gather and maintain technical data (tests and drawings), perform computations, and plot data to support analysis
- Create part drawings, tooling drawings and fixturing
- Ensure engineering solutions meet safety, cost, time, and quality requirements
- Evaluate processes and equipment for compliance with environmental and safety regulations
- Manage multiple projects/assignments simultaneously while meeting deadlines
- Collaborate with maintenance, operations, quality, materials, purchasing, accounting, and other groups to foster a collaborative, process-driven environment
- Attend training opportunities as deemed necessary by management
- Gain knowledge in structured problem-solving approaches (e.g., A3, 9-step, 8-D) and in Statistical Process Control, Lean Manufacturing, Root Cause Analysis, and Design of Experiments
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of science or engineering; typically two years of technical school, two years of college toward a Bachelor of Science, or related technical training (e.g., military/trade school)
- Mechanical and process design expertise in a manufacturing environment
- Strong critical thinking, logical reasoning and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently while maintaining strong working relationships
- Solid written and verbal communication and conflict resolution skills
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Hands-on project and equipment experience
- Ability to assess risks/issues and make decisions with urgency
- Strong listening, time management and creative problem-solving skills
- Ability to read, interpret and work from various documents including method sheets, drawings, production reports, safety rules, blueprints, schedules, Kanban cards/boards, manuals
- Proficient in Creo, AutoCAD, MS Office Suite (Excel, Project, Word, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of robot, CNC and/or PLC programming is a plus
- Manual Dexterity: Ability to handle material and parts
- Repetitive Motion: Repetitive motions such as bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, lifting, gripping and grasping
- Standing Duration: Stand for up to 10 hours per shift
- Lifting Requirements: Lift up to 30 lbs
- Environmental Exposure: Work in environments with noise, chemicals, dust, sharp objects, moving/rotating parts, and temperature extremes
- The hourly base range is $17.50-$31.30. Actual pay is based on experience and other factors.
