Base pay range: $15.00/hr - $15.00/hr
SUMMARY: The Dietary Aide is responsible for aiding all food functions as directed/instructed and in accordance with established food policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Review, prepare and serve meals in accordance with planned menus, standardized recipes and special diet orders. Prepare and serve residents nutritional bedtime snacks as well as substitute foods for residents who refuse foods served. Ensure food is prepared in accordance with sanitary regulations.
- Maintain the department in a clean and safe manner by ensuring necessary equipment and supplies are maintained. Follow institution’s Infection Control Precautions when performing daily tasks.
- Perform dishwashing and cleaning procedures to ensure utensils and supplies are available for next meal.
- Prepare and deliver snacks as instructed. Deliver food carts and trays to designated areas. Serve food and drinks in the dining room as instructed. Sweep and mop floors in the kitchen/dish room as directed by supervisor.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, the appearance of work areas and perform regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation, order, safety and proper performance of assigned duties.
- Possess patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, and be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.
- Possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing food practices.
- Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Must possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that enable these senses to function adequately to meet the requirements of this position.
- Must be able to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
- May be required to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
