Overview
Locate Technician role at Grid Hawk LLC. Locate Technicians are responsible for accurately locating underground facilities including, but not limited to, telephone lines, electric power lines, cable television lines, gas lines, fiber optic lines, water lines, and sewer lines. This position helps ensure compliance with client and state requirements. Duties include observing, locating, marking, and documenting underground and exposed utility locations using multiple methods.
Technicians can work independently or in a team under an assigned supervisor. A focus, skill, and the use of machinery and tools are required. Grid Hawk LLC is an equal opportunity employer. All employees can advance within the company based on performance and satisfactory progress.
- Locate underground facilities by using transmitters and connecting to buried facilities or pedestals.
- Work in various environments (construction zones, residential, commercial, industrial, rural) and weather conditions.
- Interpret job order tickets, blueprints, and maps to route and perform duties efficiently.
- Perform locates and emergency/on-call locates during regular, overtime, and holiday hours as necessary.
- Maintain professional communication with customers, co-employees, and third parties to ensure a damage-free environment.
- Utilize required technology and tools relevant to the role.
- Collaborate with others in a supervised team environment when appropriate.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- State-issued driver’s license.
- Ability to problem solve and interpret prints at a high level.
- Read and interpret multiple types of prints.
- Vacuum truck experience (A+ preferred).
- Ability to lift over 50 lbs and stand/walk for multiple hours.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Pass a background screening with no violations within the last 5 years.
- Pass a DOT drug test.

Candidates MUST complete a background check with no violations within the last 5 years. Candidates must also take and pass a DOT drug test. All employees are issued the necessary tools, technology, and vehicles to perform duties.
All employees are eligible to receive company benefits. Some benefits, including health insurance, are available to regular, full-time employees who maintain an average of 30 hours per week. Benefits begin the first of the next month following 30 days of employment.
