Reliance One is hiring a Paint Engineer for one of our automotive manufacturing clients in Princeton, Indiana.
We're looking for an engineer with experience in paint materials, color and appearance evaluation, new material introductions, and manufacturing problem-solving to support new model programs and continuous improvement initiatives.

THE ROLEThe Paint Engineer will support paint production engineering initiatives focused on new material development, new model launches, material performance, cost reduction, and future manufacturing improvements.
This position will work across engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and other cross-functional teams to evaluate new paint colors and materials from initial laboratory testing through production approval.
- Lead new color and material introductions for body and resin paint applications
- Support materials from initial laboratory workability evaluations through online testing and production approval
- Develop trial plans and coordinate production testing
- Conduct quality evaluations and provide recommendations based on testing results
- Establish process controls and parameters for new materials and technologies
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to establish alignment on material and process requirements
- Lead materials-related problem-solving activities across multiple groups
- Perform root-cause analysis and develop effective countermeasures
- Evaluate the cost and environmental impacts of new materials
- Quantify cost-versus-benefit considerations and support stakeholder decision-making
- Support paint production engineering objectives related to quality, cost, performance, and continuous improvement
- Analyze technical data and communicate findings through reports, charts, and presentations
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent professional experience
- 1+ year of experience evaluating the color and appearance of painted surfaces
- Experience analyzing data to identify root causes and implement countermeasures
- Experience coordinating multiple projects involving other departments, vendors, suppliers, or external groups
- Ability to summarize and analyze data using Microsoft Excel
- Ability to develop clear presentations using Microsoft Power Point
- Experience creating and presenting reports to multiple levels of management
- Strong communication, organization, and cross-functional collaboration skills

We're looking for an engineer who can evaluate appearance, material performance, process capability, quality, cost, and environmental impact while working across multiple teams to successfully introduce new materials into production.
