OverviewAs a Grain Facility Operator in Training, you will work in our loading and unloading facility, gaining the skills and experience needed to advance in our newly designed Career Path. This role is focused on safely and efficiently moving grain via railcars and trucks in an outdoor work environment.
Responsibilities- Fully participate in the company Safety Program and attend daily pre‑shift meetings.
- Perform all duties in compliance with OSHA, company safety, and environmental regulations, including wearing appropriate PPE.
- Transfer, load, and move grain to appropriate locations.
- Execute rail duties (prep, unload, load, placement, etc.) where applicable.
- Assist with weighing trucks and grading grain.
- Complete documentation accurately and legibly.
- Maintain general cleanliness through sweeping, shoveling, washing, painting, and other housekeeping tasks.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs where applicable.
- Maintain grain quality during storage and transfer.
- May be responsible for additional tasks such as heavy equipment operation, dryer monitoring, and additional material handling based on facility needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- No prior experience required. Preference for 1+ year experience in an industrial environment.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to complete documentation requirements.
- Ability to follow directions, use logical thought processes, and troubleshoot problems.
- Ability to work well independently and within a team.
- Ability to use tools appropriate for assigned tasks.
- Commitment to exceptional customer service, both internal and external.
- Ability to balance, bend, stoop, twist, crouch, crawl, kneel, and squat constantly/continuously.
- Frequent stair and ladder climbing to significant heights.
- Frequent concentration on tasks without distraction.
- Ability to distinguish grain quality characteristics (at some facilities).
- Ability to enter information into computers.
- Ability to lift/push/pull 50 lbs. occasionally or continuously, depending on location.
- Ability to meet all PPE, PFT/fit testing, FRA/DOT testing, and confined space requirements where applicable.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, on water‑surfaces, and in high dust or extreme weather conditions.
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, holidays, and alternate shifts as needed.
- Acute situational awareness and rapid adaptation to changes.
Work environment includes indoor/outdoor, heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions with frequent PPE use. 5%–20% travel may be required for training or alternate locations.
Pay & BenefitsBase pay range: $16.50 – $25.00 per hour, varying by location and experience. Actual pay may vary.
