Position OverviewFirst American is looking to add a Commercial Underwriting Assistant to its growing team. The role supports the Commercial Title team in a fast‑paced setting, assisting with creating and maintaining title files, documenting and recording, and ensuring timely closings and title recordings for transactions ranging from single‑site to high‑liability multi‑site commercial real‑estate deals. You will play a key role in coordinating the resolution and completion of the commercial title process.
Responsibilities- Support the closing process of commercial real‑estate transactions by preparing invoices, routing title comments and underwriting requests, ordering title and tax updates, assembling and calculating pricing information, and recording fees and transfer tax information.
- Search, examine, and interpret commercial real‑estate documents.
- Audit calculations and legal documents for accuracy.
- Communicate recording information and prepare legal property documents such as proforma policies and endorsements.
- Create title files and prepare endorsements and supplemental documents.
- Passion for helping customers while maintaining a professional and positive attitude.
- Excellent verbal and written communication with both internal team members and external customers.
- Problem‑solving ability with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.
- Natural curiosity and enjoyment of researching the history and background of transactions.
- Thrives in a team environment focused on delivering beyond customer expectations.
- Knowledge of the MS Office suite, especially advanced Adobe and spreadsheets; ability to quickly adapt to new software applications and technologies.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1+ years of title‑related experience.
$22.80 – $30.38 Hourly. This hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay for this position at the time of posting. Pay is based on a number of factors which may include job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location.
