Position: Staff Environmental Engineer, Environmental Scientist, or Geologist 2

Staff Environmental Engineer, Environmental Scientist, or Geologist

Haley & Aldrich is looking for a Staff Environmental Engineer, Environmental Scientist, or Geologist to work in a technical support role with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. This is a full‑time position located in our Parsippany, NJ;
Cherry Hill, NJ;
Princeton, NJ;
Bethlehem, PA; or Holicong, PA
offices.

In this field‑intensive role you’ll work under the direction and supervision of senior staff to conduct site and subsurface characterization for environmental and geotechnical projects. Responsibilities include travel to job sites, performing site reconnaissance, monitoring subsurface exploration activities, collecting field samples, analyzing data, compiling reports, and maintaining safety plans.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Independently conduct field investigations and assessments of soil, groundwater, surface water, etc., using approved industry standards.
  • Conduct subsurface explorations and monitor well construction, sampling, and other field activities.
  • Monitor test borings, geoprobes, and test pits to collect soil, bedrock, groundwater data for project design.
  • Sample soil and groundwater following ASTM standards and company procedures.
  • Collect, synthesize, and analyze data using approved procedures.
  • Compile, reduce, and report field, instrumentation, geological, and environmental data with spreadsheets and other tools.
  • Monitor contractor construction activities for environmental and geotechnical compliance.
  • Use various environmental and geotechnical instruments during field work.
  • Perform historical site reviews and assess applicable regulations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of field activities and data evaluations.
  • Draft technical sections of reports, proposals, cost estimates, and client deliverables such as Phase I and II ESAs.
  • Assist in developing technical scopes of work and cost estimates for proposals.
  • Adhere to site‑specific health and safety plans, safety briefings, and audits.
  • Perform all work in accordance with company and client health and safety protocols.
  • Demonstrate the company’s foundational safety behaviors.
Minimum Skills and Requirements
  • B.S. in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a closely related discipline (M.S. welcomed).
  • 0–5 years of professional services consulting experience, including Phase I/II environmental assessments and data evaluation.
  • Compliance with company guiding principles and code of behavior.
  • Compliance with health and safety protocols.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional certification or intent to obtain one, as applicable.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs, traverse unstable sites, work outdoors in varied weather, and sustain moderate physical activity.
  • Ability to travel across the U.S. for temporary assignments.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Working knowledge of GIS.
  • Familiarity with environmental analytical testing and data reduction for soil, water, and air.
Preferred Skills
  • OSHA 40‑Hour HAZWOPER training.
  • Experience with specialized software, including groundwater modeling.
  • Strong background in chemistry, geochemistry, and biology.
Salary

The salary range for this position in Parsippany, NJ;
Cherry Hill, NJ; and Princeton, NJ is $54,000 – $76,000 annually. Compensation is based on education, experience, certifications, skills, and market conditions.
