We are seeking a highly motivated and resilient Entry-Level Electrical Engineer to join our team, focusing on assisting in the design, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of EMALS/AAG.
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for design, implementation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and improvement of electrical engineering functions for the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) and/or Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG). EMALS is the aircraft launch system on Ford Class Carriers, using electromagnetic technology to launch aircraft from the deck of naval carriers. AAG is a modular, integrated arresting gear system consisting of energy absorbers, power conditioning equipment, and digital controls.
Key responsibilities include supporting 1000 VDC, 440 VAC, and 120 VAC power and control systems onboard aircraft carriers. The role demands adaptability, resilience, and willingness to travel to challenging environments, performing duties in physically demanding and uncomfortable conditions aboard naval vessels (surface), military installations, or remote field sites. The Electrical Engineer will collaborate closely with senior engineers to ensure reliability, availability, and performance of AAG and/or EMALS.
Travel readiness is required—up to 5–20 % or more, domestically and internationally—deploying aboard naval vessels or remote forward operating bases in varied environments.
Qualifications- Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution.
- 0–6 years of relevant experience, including internships, co‑op programs, or academic projects with a strong emphasis on hands‑on electrical equipment.
- Must be comfortable working in challenging and often uncomfortable conditions such as noisy machinery, confined spaces, elevated heights, extreme temperatures (hot/cold), wet or humid environments, and areas with fumes, dust, or vibrations.
- Physical readiness is a prerequisite: ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects up to 50 lbs; stand, walk, climb ladders/stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl for extended periods; manual dexterity and fine‑motor skills for operating tools and equipment.
- Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators, and steel‑toed boots.
- Travel required, up to 5–20 % or more, domestically or internationally; valid U.S. Passport required.
Target salary range: $40,001 – $80,000. The estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
