Level B from $127,947 base (plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading)

A Senior Research Associate (Level
B) with mixed‑methods research expertise is expected to carry out independent and/or team research in the field of trauma care, with a focus on management of traumatic fractures in resource‑constrained settings. The role reports to a Professor and has no direct reports.
- Engage in individual and/or collaborative research in a manner consistent with disciplinary practice.
- Create scholarly impact recognised by peers in advancement of disciplinary knowledge.
- Conduct research under limited supervision, independently or as part of a team.
- Establish a personal research portfolio and develop independent research proposals.
- Contribute to applications for competitive funding under guidance of senior colleagues.
- Participate as co‑investigator or chief investigator in competitive grant applications.
- Lead qualitative data management within the process evaluation of the 5‑country HIPCARE trial.
- Develop and maintain qualitative data management tools and processes, supporting regional HIPCARE trial sites.
- Analyse qualitative data, interpret findings and draft manuscripts with qualitative researchers.
- Contribute to research processes and manuscript preparation for the Inormus Study.
Skills & Qualifications
- PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
- Proven commitment to staying current with disciplinary knowledge and developments.
- Track record in hip‑fracture care and/or healthy ageing research, especially in low‑ and middle‑income settings.
- Developed peer networks in orthopaedic research in the Asia‑Pacific region.
- Expertise in designing, conducting and analysing qualitative research using rigorous, ethical and participatory methods.
- Significant involvement with the profession and/or industry.
- High‑level communication skills and ability to network effectively.
- Strong ability to write, edit and publish high‑quality scientific manuscripts.
- Collaborative teamwork, cross‑disciplinary collaboration and relationship building.
- Highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Verification of qualifications.
