Custodian

As a member of our store maintenance team at Wegmans, you are an important part of making sure the entire store operation runs smoothly and ensuring our customers have an incredible shopping experience. In this position your work will include cleaning and maintenance projects to ensure the store environment is safe and pristine for both our customers and employees. • Promptly respond to all maintenance calls and attend to spills, breaks or other accidents
• Keep the store clean, in pristine condition and work to prevent potential dangers
• Assist customers by getting answers to questions they may have

Customer service experience preferably in a food service, restaurant, grocery or retail setting;
Custodial/janitorial experience.

Work Environment:
The physical demands of this work are classified as medium. Work includes walking, standing for up to 4 hours without a break, repetitive hand and arm movements, lifting, bending, and reaching, including reaching and lifting above shoulder height, and working with cleaning chemicals and materials, along with continuous interaction with customers and coworkers. The average weight range of items lifted is 5–20 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 50 pounds rarely.

Upper extremity repetition is moderate and trunk movement involves moderate twisting, bending, and pivoting. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction). The work environment is indoors with some seasonal outdoor temperatures and weather. Basic tools and equipment used include common cleaning equipment and supplies, baler, and compactor.
