Pay Rate: $22–$25 per hour

Position OverviewThe Assistant Golf Course Superintendent-In-Training (AIT) is an entry-level role designed for individuals pursuing a career in golf course management. This position offers structured training and hands-on experience to prepare candidates for promotion to Assistant Superintendent. The AIT works closely with the Director of Maintenance and Assistant Superintendents to support daily operations, staff training, and project management.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with staff training, scheduling, and performance evaluation
- Learn and perform maintenance tasks across all core areas: equipment operation, irrigation system management, chemical/fertilizer applications, bunker, greens, and landscape maintenance
- Serve as lead for Irrigation or Application Foreman duties when needed
- Support a safe working environment by enforcing regulatory compliance
- Maintain detailed records and assist with administrative tasks
- Promote course cleanliness, safety, and equipment care
- Operate two-way radios for daily communication
- Participate in special projects and course improvement initiatives
- Wear appropriate PPE and follow safety procedures
- Enrolled or planning to enroll in a turfgrass management or related program
- Basic knowledge of golf course maintenance practices and equipment operation
- Strong work ethic and commitment to team success
- Willingness to obtain a NJ Pesticide Applicator License
- Work outdoors in varied weather conditions
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
- Frequently required to walk, kneel, sit, bend, and operate equipment
Flexible schedule including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed
