Data Center Facilities Technician

Base Pay Range$31.00/hr – $31.00/hr

Responsibilities- Develop creative strategies to minimize operational costs while improving efficiency across Mechanical, Electrical, and Fire Life Safety systems.
- Test performance of electromechanical assemblies and electronic volt meters.
- Read blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and technical orders to determine process sequences.
- Inspect equipment for defects, leaks, and potential issues.
- Install electrical/electronic parts and hardware in housings/assemblies using hand tools.
- Align, fit, or assemble component parts using hand and power tools.
- Operate, monitor, and maintain Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Life Safety, Security Systems, Building Monitoring Systems, and Control systems.
- Analyze systems to ensure best practice for internal and external customers.
- Provide feedback on the effectiveness of existing standards and processes.
- Work with contractors and consultants to review quality assurance for all system expansions, corrections, and upgrades.
- Collaborate on aggressive preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Collaborate on determining maintenance requirements for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire life safety, and security systems.
- Provide smart/remote hands assistance within specified SLA.
- Move/add/change hardware install including labeling, power connectivity, and network cable connectivity.
- 100% completion of documentation, notification, escalation, tracking, and follow‑up of all incidents and requests.
- 100% accurate and timely submission of timesheet documentation in Field Service.
- 100% fulfillment of contractual expectations defined by Client SOW specific to scheduled service delivery and revenue expectations.
- 100% completion of required Talent LMS based training courses as assigned.
- 100% adherence to Salute Mission Critical safety standards and best practices.
- 100% adherence to client security/privacy practices and expectations.
- Track and trend MEP system and equipment operational characteristics.
- Collaborate with fit‑outs, system expansions, corrections, upgrades, and equipment commissioning.
- Collaborate with tracking annual budgets.
- Relate status of planned maintenance programs.
- Attend certain high‑level meetings and take notes and action items.
- Serve in a technical writing capacity for procedures, preventive/corrective maintenance activities, and EOPs.
- Level I – Associate’s Degree or minimum of 2 years’ experience in electrical/mechanical industry.
- Level II – Associate’s Degree or minimum of 3 years’ experience in electrical/mechanical industry.
- Level III – Bachelor of Science in Engineering or minimum of 5 years’ experience in electrical/mechanical industry.
- Understanding of mechanical, electrical, fire life safety systems, LAN/wireless network systems used in a data center.
- Hands‑eye aptitude for tape rotation, rack and stack of equipment, inventory hardware, power cycle devices, and patch cable install/removal.
- Mechanical aptitude for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting large commercial and industrial systems.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid, NFPA 70 E, and OSHA forklift training.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs or greater.
- Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70 E, NFPA 72, NFPA 25, and building codes.
- Knowledge of networking concepts.
- Current knowledge of industrial safety practices.
- Ability to utilize integrated critical monitoring systems.
- Critical thinking and complex problem solving skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ticket system literacy.
- Basic customer service principles.
- Hand, hearing, head, eye, fall, electrical, and ladder safety protection.
