About This RoleIMMEDIATE NEED - HIRING NOW - MAJOR PROJECTS DIVISION. TRAVEL POSITION - Robinson Brothers Construction, LLC seeks a skilled Telecom/Underground Utilities Laborer to join our traveling crew. Contracts span the Pacific Northwest and the West Coast, encompassing multiple states.
We are looking for talented individuals enthusiastic and ready to travel to various job sites. The role is a field position requiring travel to multiple states.
What You'll DoThe Construction Laborer will support all phases of utility construction for various telecom projects. Duties include general labor related to telecommunications construction as directed by the Foreman or Supervisor.
Services may include placing poles, anchors and guys, aerial strand and cable, direct buried pipe, trenching cable, conventional and directional boring, placing underground conduit systems, performing inside wiring, cabling, testing and maintenance services.
Daily Responsibilities- Loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal and placement of construction materials and equipment.
- Hand dig using shovel, mechanical tools.
- Install and maintain underground telecommunications cabling.
- Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery.
- Work in congested or remote areas.
- Maintain visual and audible contact with crew and other moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination.
- Perform general construction work under direction of Foreman/Supervisor.
- Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures, and policies.
- Learn all aspects of crew and assist operator and foreman as assigned.
- Set up, prepare, and clean up construction sites.
- Develop understanding of buried utilities.
- Lift heavy equipment and supplies.
- Travel is a must.
Qualifications:
- Must pass a pre‑employment drug screen and Motor Vehicle Report.
- Possess a valid driver’s license or be willing and eligible to obtain required license.
- Clean driving record (no more than 2 tickets in the last 5 years).
- Successful completion of Quanta/RBC Safety compliance training and onboarding.
- Basic knowledge of and ability to operate various types of utility trucks and equipment safely.
- Basic knowledge of and ability to use hand tools and equipment safely.
- 2 to 3 years’ experience in the underground utilities industry.
- Class A CDL is a plus (higher wage scales apply to CDL holders).
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, etc.
- Willing and able to work in all weather conditions.
- Travel is required.
This is a full‑time hourly position, expected to work at least 40 hours per week. It operates in an outdoor environment exposed to extreme cold, rain, sleet, snow, humidity, high temperatures, and high wind. The outside work environment varies daily, including changes in terrain, traffic, urban and rural settings. The position may occasionally be exposed to natural gas and risk of electrical shock, and to moderate to loud noise levels.
Physical RequirementsEmployee must stand for long periods (up to 12 hours), tolerate extreme weather, listen to safety instructions, and perform lifting, standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching, crouching, and crawling. Must regularly lift 50 pounds and have specific vision abilities: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, focus adjustment.
