IMMEDIATE NEED – HIRING NOW
TRAVEL POSITION: Skilled Telecom/Underground Utilities Laborer to join a traveling crew. Contracts span the Pacific Northwest and the West Coast. Travel is expected and required.
ResponsibilitiesConstruction Laborer will support all phases of utility construction for various types of telecom projects. Duties include general labor tasks directed by the Foreman or Supervisor. Services may include placing poles, anchors, and guys; aerial strand and cable; direct‑buried pipe; trenching cable; conventional and directional boring; placing underground conduit systems; performing inside wiring, cabling, testing, and maintenance services.
Daily Responsibilities- Handle loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal, and placement of construction materials and equipment.
- Hand dig using shovel or mechanical tools.
- Install and maintain underground telecommunications cabling.
- Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery.
- Work in congested or remote areas.
- Maintain visual and audible contact with other crew members and moving or stationary persons, vehicles, or objects to ensure safe coordination of movement.
- Perform general construction work under direction of Foreman/Supervisor.
- Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures, and policies.
- Assist the operator and foreman as assigned.
- Set up, prepare, and clean up construction sites.
- Develop an understanding of buried utilities.
- Lift heavy equipment and supplies.
- Must pass a pre‑employment drug screen and Motor Vehicle Report.
- Possess a valid driver’s license or be willing to obtain the required license.
- Clean driving record (no more than 2 tickets in the last 5 years).
- Successful completion of Quanta/RBC Safety compliance training and onboarding.
- Basic knowledge of and ability to operate various types of utility trucks and equipment safely.
- Basic knowledge of and ability to use hand tools and equipment safely.
- 2–3 years of experience in the underground utilities industry.
- Class A CDL is a plus (higher wage scales apply).
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and employees.
- Willingness and ability to work in all weather conditions.
Full‑time hourly position, at least 40 hours per week. Outdoor environment with exposure to weather conditions (cold, rain, sleet, snow, humidity, high temperatures, high wind). The environment varies in terrain, traffic, and rural/urban settings. Possible exposure to natural gas and electrical shock. Moderate to loud noise levels.
Physical RequirementsStand for up to 12 hours at a time, tolerate extreme weather, hear and speak in safety instructions, lift 50 pounds regularly. Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, focus adjustment.
