HVAC and R Specialist

Job Overview

Completes service, installation, and preventative maintenance of commercial HVAC&R and kitchen equipment.

• Installs, performs service, repairs, and performs preventative maintenance of heating, ventilation, air‑conditioning, and refrigeration systems (HVAC&R), kitchen equipment, and other related equipment.
• Communicates all necessary information pertaining to HVAC&R and related systems to Supervisor.
• Monitors building temperatures and makes adjustments as necessary.
• Responds to and assists in all building, equipment, or systems emergency situations involving the department.
• Maintains tools, equipment, and work area.
• Operates fire and life safety systems and related equipment.
• Performs limited electrical work.
• Assists with boiler operation and maintenance.
• Participates in testing of fire and life safety equipment.
• Marks up as‑built drawings pertaining to HVAC&R systems for alterations and submits them for conversion to CAD.

• A combination of education and experience equal to 3 years in HVAC&R or related discipline.
• Valid Universal Refrigeration license (required).
• Basic Boiler Knowledge.
• Basic knowledge of computer operation for simple data entry or information retrieval.
• Valid Class D driver’s license may be required with a good driving record.
• Industrial Truck Driving permit may be required (forklift).
• Ability to work in a wide range of climate temperatures, including excessive heat and/or subzero temperatures.
• Proficiency in maintaining safety while handling potential fumes, chemicals, odors, and/or noise.
• Has the physical abilities to perform the required job duties with or without accommodations, including on feet 90% of the time.
• Capacity to handle and lift up to 70 lbs as needed.
