Description

Incorporated in 1955 and encompassing more than 454 acres, the Mt. Prospect Park District provides outstanding recreational programs, events, parks, facilities and services. With seven primary facilities and 27 neighborhood parks, the Park District is an integral part of a thriving multi‑generational community. District open space includes two outdoor pools, biking and walking paths, a dog park and sizable space for outdoor athletic programming.

The District covers over 11 square miles and serves a region of over a quarter million residents in Mount Prospect and surrounding communities.

We are searching for part‑time Kinder Klub Supervisors to supervise and care for children in the District’s Kindergarten Enrichment Program, designed for Westbrook Kindergarten students. Under the supervision of the Early Childhood and Youth Manager and the Kinder Klub Director, the PT Kinder Klub Supervisor is responsible for supervising and implementing day‑to‑day activities for program participants.

The PT Kinder Klub Supervisor must be at least 21 years old, possess a valid driver’s license and be able to successfully pass a criminal background check. Work hours required are Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–1:30 PM, and/or Monday through Friday 11:30‑4:00 PM, during the school year. Subbing and/or additional hours may become available. The starting pay for the PT Kinder Klub Supervisor is $16.00 per hour.

Park District employees also receive facility privileges.

General Description

Under the direct supervision of the Kinder Klub Director and Early Childhood and Youth Manager, the part‑time Kinder Klub Supervisor is responsible for supervising and implementing day‑to‑day activities for the participants.

Essential Duties
  • Assist the Kinder Klub Director in supervising program activities, including classroom preparation, clean‑up, behavior management, leading activities, and ensuring overall program success; be responsible for the safety and recreational programming of participants.
  • Maintain a commitment to the development of each child’s self‑esteem by providing a safe, fun, and nurturing environment through age‑appropriate activities.
  • Work hours are Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–1:30 PM, and/or Monday through Friday 11:30‑4:00 PM, December through May; subbing and/or additional hours may become available. Staff meetings will begin mid‑August.
  • Enforce Kinder Klub rules and implement behavior‑management plans when necessary.
  • Provide a variety of age‑appropriate and relevant activities and materials; establish positive and nurturing relationships with all children in the program.
  • Interact and build relationships with parents.
  • Integrate children with special needs in a positive and respectful manner.
  • Administer basic first aid when required.
  • Transport participants to and/or from Westbrook School via Park District vehicles.
  • Be familiar with the safe operation of any equipment necessary to accomplish required tasks.
  • Abide by all Park District policies and procedures.
Secondary Duties
  • Dress in appropriate attire in accordance with the handbook.
  • Limit use of cell phones to emergencies only.
  • Perform the job safely and in compliance with Park District policies, procedures, work and safety rules.
  • Attend required training and meetings.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work environment; return supplies and equipment to the appropriate locations when finished.
  • Additional functions as assigned which may be considered essential.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Early Childhood and Youth Manager, Director of Recreation and/or Executive Director; in an emergency, perform all other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 21 years old and possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to work December through early June (school year); additional hours may be required for school days off, substituting, or summer hours. Work schedule days may be flexible/can vary.
  • Must have prior experience working with kindergarten‑age children in a group setting, and the ability to care for, work with, and relate to children.
  • Must have the capacity to provide a high level of customer service to participants, parents, and caregivers.
