Technical Support Associate at Butler Aerospace & Defense.
Location:
McKinney, TX. Job : #71451. Pay Range: $28-$31/hr this role supports the Operations Repair & Maintenance Team within Optics Manufacturing, ensuring production readiness and uptime across multiple factories (Optical Fabrication, Diamond Point Turning, Optical Coating, and Assembly/Test).
This is a highly hands-on, technical position in a fast-paced, high-demand defense manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of electronic, mechanical, and automated manufacturing equipment.
- Lead or support installation and upgrades of production equipment.
- Develop and follow preventive maintenance procedures (including Lockout/Tagout).
- Use multimeters, current probes, schematics, and technical manuals to diagnose complex issues.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure factory equipment is safe, reliable, and efficient.
- Support layout planning, capital equipment procurement, and documentation updates.
- Participate in call-in and weekend work as required to support critical operations.
- Follow all OSHA and Raytheon safety protocols.
- Minimum 5-8 years of hands-on experience in equipment maintenance in a manufacturing/production setting.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with: automated equipment and control systems; high voltage systems (480V, 208V, 110V, and DC voltages); multimeters, current probes, and diagnostic instruments.
- Ability to work from schematics, technical drawings, manuals, and verbal instructions.
- Experience interfacing with multi-disciplinary teams and working with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work 2nd shift after training, with flexibility for weekends/call-ins.
- Comfortable working in a high-voltage, hands-on environment — this is not a desk or technician helper role.
- Associate s Degree in Electronics, Mechanical Technology, or related technical field.
