Logistics Assistant - Freight Payables Associate

Position Purpose

Provides administrative support to the Inbound Logistics Department. Assists with the organization and execution of company projects and functions, handles details of a confidential nature, and keeps department associates and manager well informed of activities, providing assistance to the Logistics staff.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties
  • Responsible for the effective and accurate performance of assigned clerical and logistics functions.
  • Compiles and executes against reports such as PO PEND, Load Accrual and Lost Sales, and compiles information to share with logistics, purchasing, operations, carriers and vendors as necessary.
  • Actively resolves issues or concerns that pertain to work related and assigned tasks, facilitating a problem‑solver approach.
  • Stays educated on developments, changes and trends related to the supply chain industry.
  • Verifies and enters updates in various systems efficiently and accurately.
  • Follows up with internal and external sources on requests and status checks.
  • Prepares a variety of documents, reports and records including carrier scorecards, invoice/bills, vendor profile, transit time, master scheduling scorecards and analytics preparation data.
  • Assists and supports department personnel as needed, resolving requests, questions, and problems promptly and professionally.
  • Obtains and conveys information such as carrier on‑time metrics and open PO specifics.
  • Performs other job duties as required.
Qualifications

Education/Certification
:
Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience.

Experience Required
: 1–2 years experience in a professional environment.

Required Knowledge
:
Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Project, Word, Excel, Visio).

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
:

  • Thorough knowledge of procurement and logistics processes.
  • General understanding of promotional practices.
  • Strong analytical and math skillset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Capability to learn and utilize multiple disparate systems.
  • Ability to identify and understand trends.
  • Ability to investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions.
  • Excellent problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to use own judgment to make decisions and drive results.
  • Can work independently as well as within a larger group.
  • Ability to perform complex tasks and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and manage confidential information.
Physical Environment / Demands
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Most work is performed in a temperature‑controlled office environment.
  • May sit for long periods at desk or computer terminal.
  • May use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • May use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in normal workday.
  • Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required.
