Owner's Project Manager – Higher Education (Rhode Island)
STV seeks an Owner's Rep Project Manager for higher education, overseeing capital projects on campus, ensuring on-time, on-budget, compliant delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Project Planning & Design:
Oversee multiple construction projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time, on-budget, and institutional specifications. - Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and scopes of work.
- Coordinate all phases of the project: planning, design, procurement, construction, post-construction.
- Ensure effective communication between university staff, contractors, architects, and consultants.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation: contracts, logs, change orders, minutes, progress reports.
- Procurement & Contract Management:
Define scope, objectives, schedules; coordinate design professionals and stakeholders; review designs for compliance, codes, safety; administer construction contracts; oversee bidding process. - Budget & Cost Control:
Manage selection of contractors, negotiate contracts, monitor budgets to prevent overruns. - Risk Management & Safety:
Prepare cost estimates, approve invoices, implement cost-saving measures, ensure safety protocols and environmental standards. - Stakeholder Communication & Reporting:
Identify risks, conduct site visits, serve as primary contact for issues, provide regular updates to leadership. - Post-Construction & Close-Out:
Coordinate punch lists, inform stakeholders of changes, transfer operations, prepare final reports and financial documents.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field (required). Master’s degree (preferred). - Experience:
At least 5 years managing construction projects, focusing on higher education or institutional projects; proven experience handling large-scale complex projects; familiarity with building codes, regulations, sustainability standards. - Skills &
Competencies:
Strong project management (budgeting, scheduling, risk); excellent communication and negotiation; ability to manage multiple projects; knowledge of construction software (Procore, Buildertrend, MS Project); leadership and team management; commitment to safety, quality, sustainability.
