Physician Diagnostic-Interventional Radiologist- and No IR call

Overview

The Providence VA is hiring a full-time Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Diagnostic and Interventional Radiologist (DR/IR). This position offers flexible scheduling, part-time telework eligibility, Education Debt Reduction Program eligibility, and no IR call. A Recruitment or Relocation Incentive is authorized for highly qualified candidates.

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed VA physicians who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.

• Appointment is contingent upon:
  United States Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy
• Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree from an approved school
• C License to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia
• Residency training: completed residency approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs leading to eligibility for board certification
• Approved residencies include: (1) ACGME; (2) AOA; or (3) other residencies followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the U.S. as deemed appropriate by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee
• Residency status considerations for PRPs (Physician Resident Providers)
• PRPs must be fully licensed and may be appointed on an intermittent or fee-basis; PRPs are not independent practitioners and have a limited scope of practice under supervision
• Senior or gap-year surgeons may also be appointed as PRPs
• On residency or pending medical license: final hiring contingent on completion

• Current VA physicians: those who met qualification standards at initial appointment are considered qualified
• Foreign Medical Graduates must receive ECFMG verification if not covered by ACGME or AOA

• Preferred experience:
  
  board-eligible or board-certified in Diagnostic Radiology and current with MOC
• ACGME DR/IR certified or IR fellowship-trained diagnostic and interventional radiologist
• The Diagnostic and Interventional Radiologist interprets radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT, MRI, and nuclear medicine studies; performs basic and advanced image-guided procedures (CT- and ultrasound-guided biopsies and drainages, percutaneous biliary and urologic tube insertions and exchanges); and works primarily during weekday hours
• No IR call (no nights, weekends, or holidays)
• Participates in multidisciplinary clinical and educational conferences, quality management activities, and institutional committees; maintains specialty education and life support certifications
• On-Call responsibilities:
  Diagnostic radiology back-up for teleradiology; currently a one-in-five rotation;
  Interventional radiology: no call
