Position: Physician (Regular Ft) Hematology/Oncology

Physician (Regular Ft) Hematology/Oncology

Eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit an EDRP application within four months of appointment. Award amount is up to $200,000 and the eligibility period ranges from 1 to 5 years, as determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program after review.

Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply. Recruitment incentive authorized.

Qualifications
  • Basic Requirements
    :
    • United States citizenship (non‑citizens only if qualified citizens cannot be recruited).
    • Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
    • Full and unrestricted license lies practice medicine or surgery in any US State, Territory, Commonwealth, or District of Columbia.
    • Completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, leading to eligibility for board certification.
    • Residency must be ACGME‑ or AOA‑approved or, alternatively, a non‑US residency followed by at least five years of verified U.S. practice as recognized by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee.
    • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
    • Physical ability to lift light objects under 15 lbs, perform light caretaking duties, reach above shoulder level, use both hands, walk and stand, and possibly use a hearing aid.
    • Pre‑placement medical examination required.
  • Additional Requirements
    :
    • Preferred experience in Hematology and Medical Oncology privileges, including successful completion of an accredited fellowship.
    • Board certification (preferred) or board eligibility in Hematology/Oncology.
    • Residency or fellowship training must be completed in the United States, or the applicant must have a minimum of five years of U.S. practice following non‑U.S. training.
    • He or she must be a Physician Resident Provider (PRP) based on additional criteria if still in residency.
Duties
  • Physically engage in evaluation, diagnosis, consultation, and medical management of hematology/oncology patients.
  • Assess general medical conditions encountered in the course of caring for hematology/oncology patients.
  • Admit patients to inpatient or appropriate level of care.
  • Perform history and physical examinations, order and interpret EKG, imaging, and laboratory studies.
  • Provide palliative care consultation for select cases.
  • Initiate and administer chemotherapeutic agents via all therapeutic routes.
  • Analyze tumor imaging via CT, MR, PET, and other nuclear imaging techniques; measure tumor mass serially.
  • Perform bone marrow aspiration and biopsy; order therapeutic phlebotomy.
  • Maintain a full‑time, Monday‑to‑Friday schedule, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Compensation

Infiniti amount: base pay range $300,000 to $400,000 per annum.
