Key ResponsibilitiesThe Assistant Dean of Diversity and Inclusion is a staff position that provides professional expertise, strategic leadership, administrative oversight, and collaborative guidance for this work. Reporting directly to the Dean of the School of Public Health, the position is responsible for directing key organizational and programmatic initiatives, expanding outreach, and contributing expert knowledge and skills for advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the School of Public Health.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree with equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field
- Master's Degree preferred
- Eight (8) to ten (10) years of related professional and work experience
- Academic or professional training in, or demonstrated knowledge of, current critical/theoretical approaches and best practices for advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion within institutions
- Experience leading diversity and inclusion training and education programs for a variety of constituencies; proven experience working collaboratively with colleagues at all levels in a complex environment to facilitate positive processes and initiatives coupled with measurable outcomes and deliverables
- Strong commitment to and demonstrated skills for working with individuals with diverse intersecting identities, backgrounds, and experiences
- Excellent communication (oral and written) skills required, ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of constituents, including faculty, staff, and students
- Broad and deep understanding of historical and current practices related to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Team player with a record of conferring with colleagues, aligning work with larger goals, and coordinating with multiple offices
- Prior work in diversity or multicultural affairs, and/or successful implementation of DEI initiatives
- Intercultural sensitivity and cultural competence/cultural humility
- Possesses a willingness to work in an inclusive and diverse environment
