Position Summary
JCM Early Learning Center / John Hope Settlement House isseekingan experienced, motivated, and detail-oriented
Education Coordinator
to join our team. The ideal candidate is passionate about early childhood education, committed to equity and access to high-quality learning experiences, and skilled in supporting children, families, and staff.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and provide training aligned with the
Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Standards (RIELDS). - Design, implement, and oversee developmentally appropriate curriculumaligned with
RIELDS and Pre-Kindergarten Standards
. - Conduct regular classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to ensure quality instruction and authentic assessment practices.
- Providebi-weekly supervision to teaching staff, including review of lesson plans and curriculum implementation using
Teaching Strategies GOLD (TSG)Assessment. - Report and consult with the Executive Director regarding staff or parent concerns in a timely manner to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children.
- Initiate referrals and support services for children, with parental consent, to appropriate agencies as needed.
- Provide ongoing staff support whilemaintainingconfidentiality.
- Coordinate and supervise developmentally appropriate field trips and special events.
- Provide families with educational and behavioral resources and referrals.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director on Individual Professional Development Plans (IPDPs) for classroom staff.
- Supervise andmaintainrecords of staff training and professional development.
- Coordinate andmonitorchild assessment reports for Parent-Teacher Conferences.
- Collaborate with Pre-K teaching staff to plan and coordinate graduation activities.
- Assist with center operations as needed and assume administrative responsibilitiesalongside the Daycare Administrator in the Executive Director’s absence.
- Maintain professionalism, sound judgment, and emotional regulation when interacting with children, families, staff, and community partners.
- Supervise and provide leadership in staff hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, timekeeping, and performance evaluations.
- Oversee classroom schedules, daily routines, playground schedules, cleaning, and laundry assignments.
- Develop and facilitate staff training and in-service workshops.
- Foster an inclusive, respectful, and culturally responsive environment for all children, families, and staff.
- Promote family and community engagement within the Center.
- Maintain consistent communication with staff, families, Early Intervention providers, Child Outreach, and community partners.
- Support parents as lifelong educators by providing parent education opportunities and curriculum resources.
- Assist in reviewing and maintaining complete and compliant children’s files.
- Ensure continuity of care and preparedness for Parent-Teacher Conferences.
- Oversee education documentation, data collection, reporting, curriculum planning, and individualization for each child.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and agency confidentiality policies.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of all required reports and documentation.
- Manage inventory and maintenance of classroom materials.
- Assist with the development of parent and community education initiatives.
- Participate in self-assessments and community assessments as required.
- Foster a cooperative, team-oriented work environment.
- Respond to emergencies and drills as required.
- Safeguard children from abuse, neglect, or exploitation and report suspected cases to the Rhode Island Child Abuse Hotline.
- Ability to increase program enrollment through community partnerships, outreach, and positive family engagement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- RIDE certification (Pre-K–2 or Early Childhood Special Education),
or - Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related field with required ECE credits and supervised teaching experience
- Knowledge of DHS licensing regulations, RIELDS, and early childhood best practices
