Position: Step Program Director

Overview

Responsibilities
  • Guide the development and execution of the STEP Program across research, education, alumni engagement, and internal and external partnerships.
  • Coordinate closely with the Center for Career Exploration and other academic units to source internship opportunities and host partners.
  • Serve as a key liaison with Brown alumni, external stakeholders, and partners to source internships and leverage the IBES Alumni and Family Network.
  • Work with faculty to support high‑quality undergraduate research experiences in climate, sustainability, and the environment.
  • Lead the development and delivery of curricular offerings, including classes, seminars, and training modules that support student success in pre‑professional internships and undergraduate research experiences.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of a high‑profile speaker series and the annual Brown Climate Career Fair in partnership with CCE.
  • Charge with STEP program evaluation, including creation and execution of evaluation tools, analysis, and communication of results to stakeholders and program funders.
  • Administer the STEP program, supervise part‑time undergraduate, graduate, and/or postdoctoral workers, and exercise broad discretion over program design and reporting.
Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in science, educational administration, business, or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in higher education administration, career advising, science, or a related field, including leadership experience and 3+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience with philanthropic fundraising and associated reporting/stewardship activities.
  • Experience in budget planning and management.
  • Experience with program evaluation and metric tracking.
  • Experience in environmentally‑focused work is preferred.
