Job Description RISD Continuing Education facilitators teach and provide feedback to promote and direct student learning and guide students with empathy. RISD Continuing Education is seeking a practicing art and design educator interested in supporting the growth of aspiring youth artists. Our program emphasizes design thinking, communicating, and creating, and students will look to you for guidance while navigating daily prompts and assignments.

Facilitators lead our students through engaging and inspiring activities designed to grow their confidence in art making. Support students as they develop art and design vocabulary by talking about their work and the work of others. Provide personalized feedback as they work and during informal presentations of their finished pieces.

We are currently seeking two art educators to co-facilitate Museum Marvels, a full day studio course in person on the RISD campus to youth ages 10-12. The successful candidates will have a strong background in the deliverables listed in the course description. The current course description is as follows:

Get inspired by our world-class art and design collection at the RISD Museum! This week-long, full-day experience includes five days of art making with three guided museum visits. At the museum, discover stories about history and culture by analyzing artworks. Imagine what it’s like to be in a distant place or time by looking at pieces inspired by the landscape. Ponder how artists depict people and characters in drawings, sculptures, and photographs.

Gallery tours will include written activities and the chance to ask questions. Back in the studio, you will apply ideas and techniques from the tour to create inspired works of art. At the end of the week, share what you made with your friends and families in a mini exhibition.

Learner outcomes:

Inspect art and design objects for clues about how it was made and what the artist is communicating.

Create works of art that include landscapes, portraits, and a story.
