The Principal Manufacturing Engineer will lead the design and development of manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining, and material handling. This client-facing role is critical in ensuring high-quality, cost-effective, and efficient manufacturing solutions for medical devices and instruments. You will serve as a technical leader, mentor engineering staff, and collaborate cross-functionally to drive innovation and operational excellence.

• Lead the design and development of manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for assemblies and equipment.
• Resolve complex technical issues across manufacturing operations.
• Analyze manufacturing process flows for quality enhancements, cost reduction, and throughput improvements.
• Provide guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
• Engage in client-facing interactions and deliver technical presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with cross-functional teams.
• Provide training, guidance, and support to manufacturing engineering staff; lead and mentor engineers.
• Maintain duties and responsibilities of Lead Manufacturing Engineer on programs.
• Contribute to business development initiatives and assist management with team-building activities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• 7-10 years of relevant work experience (Master’s degree: 4–7 years; PhD: 2–5 years).
• In-depth knowledge of the medical device industry, CAD packages, process development, and process validation.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to solve complex technical problems and effectively manage multiple tasks and projects.
• Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
• Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.

• Advanced knowledge of manufacturing techniques and equipment utilization.
• Experience in business development activities.
• Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory compliance.

Hybrid in Providence, RI.

May require occasional travel to OEM factories, suppliers, and client sites.
