Junior Engineer

Job Overview

Our Construction Management and Inspection team is committed to helping New England clients and communities improve infrastructure while developing professional careers in construction management and inspection. Over the past thirty-five years our local construction management division and inspection team have overseen and inspected significant projects, including Connecticut’s major interstate interchanges, the Charter Oak and Quinnipiac River Bridges, the railroad moveable Walk Bridge, and Rhode Island’s East Side Transit Tunnel.

• Interface with contractor supervisors to determine and monitor daily work.
• Perform field measurements and calculations for unit price item quantities.
• Complete daily work reports in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Coordinate independent material sampling and testing or periodically perform the same.
• Monitor maintenance of traffic.
• Take and compile photographs of work activities for tracking daily progress.
• Keep the Chief Inspector and/or Resident Engineer informed on all construction activities.
• Expose to highway and construction environments and year‑round weather conditions.
• Potential for working days, nights, and weekends.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

• High School Diploma.
• Minimum 3 years of construction inspection experience.
• Strong oral and written technical communication skills.
• Ability to learn how to read plans and specifications, or the aptitude to learn.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
• Valid Driver’s License and reliable personal transportation.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or related field.
• Engineer‑In‑Training certification.
• NICET HCI Level II.
• ACI, NETTCP certification or ability to attain within 3 months of hiring.
• Hands‑on experience with construction management software such as AASHTOWare Project, Headlight, Procore, or similar systems.
• Knowledge of Bluebeam.
