Overview
Apex Companies, a fast‑growing engineering and environmental consulting firm, seeks a Senior Project Manager to lead water and wastewater projects across New England. The role combines hybrid work with client visits and offers a sign‑on bonus and relocation consideration.
Responsibilities- Supervise teams of technical staff and Project Managers on multiple complex projects.
- Lead construction administration tasks, including progress meetings, submittal reviews, meeting agenda preparation, daily/weekly report review, payment applications, RFIs, change orders, and schedule tracking.
- Mentor and develop Project Managers through training seminars and technical guidance.
- Provide QA/QC reviews on projects outside direct involvement and recognize technical risks.
- Communicate technical accuracy through plan/specification/recalculation reviews and firm standard compliance.
- Present technical details to clients and at public meetings.
- Lead projects from development to completion, identifying schedules, scopes, budget estimates, QA/QC, and risk management.
- Act as a Public Relations Ambassador by proactively presenting company capabilities.
- Solicit new clients/projects by identifying opportunities, proposing developments, and cross‑selling additional practice areas.
- Prepare proposals, participate in project interviews, attend public meetings, and develop fee proposals.
- Prepare contracts, subcontracts, and negotiate fees for new projects.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineering License.
- 12+ years of relevant experience, including 8+ years in drinking water distribution and wastewater collection systems, pump stations, water quality, and treatment systems.
- Extensive project management experience in the consulting engineering industry.
- Experience working with local clients and regulatory agencies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
