Overview

Under the general supervision of the CT Scan Manager, the Lead CT Technologist leads the performance of CT Scan procedures in a satellite unit, handling more challenging techniques such as Pediatrics. Responsibilities include clinical instruction, clerical tasks, and ensuring efficient CT workflow.

• Perform routine and complex CT scans in a satellite unit or unit requiring specialized techniques (e.g., Pediatrics) including 2D, 3D, 4D, MIP, VR, and SSD imaging.
• Provide clinical experience to Radiology Technology students and employees, guiding through procedures.
• Offer on‑job instruction to staff and participate in educational classes.
• Inventory and order supplies; compile and analyze statistics.
• Check equipment for proper operation and report repair needs.
• Apply ALARA principles and manage personal dosimeters.
• Coordinate and review work of other staff; contribute to performance appraisals and personnel actions.
• Maintain department workflow for maximum throughput.
• Stay proficient in special procedures (biopsy, drainage, ablations).

• Accredited CT program; registration in good standing with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Current CPR certification from AHA; BLS for Healthcare Providers.
• Rhode Island state radiation license and CT supplemental license from the Department of Health.
• Proficiency in operating all CT equipment, portable equipment, and patient positioning.
• Ability to produce diagnostic‑quality images tailored to patient needs.
• Strong interpersonal skills for patient education under stress.
• Analytical skills for data compilation and workflow organization.
• Demonstrated knowledge of patient care across age, development, and cultural considerations.

One year as a Radiologic Technologist in a hospital radiology department plus one year of specialized CT training.

Work in the CT Scan area or a small satellite unit with minimal noise and temperature discomfort. Exposure to radiation is controlled by safety procedures. Requires continuous standing, walking, pushing portable equipment, lifting and positioning patients, and occasional exposure to odors from processing equipment.

$44.90–$74.10 per hour.
