SUMMARY: Reports to the Program Director for designated School of Medical Imaging. Is responsible for coordinating the educational programs at the various clinical sites for students to learn the applied aspects of their field. Prepares curriculum and teaches classes under the general direction of the Education Director.

Responsibilities
  • In conjunction with the Program Director, interview candidates for the program and make recommendations regarding qualification and eligibility of candidate admission.
  • Develop and oversee student orientation plan for their specific educational program.
  • In conjunction with the Program Director, design and evaluate curriculum compliance to meet recommendations and mandates from approving agencies, and implement changes to meet evolving practices and community of care standards for the program.
  • Assist the Program Director as needed in periodic reviews and revisions of didactic/clinical course material.
  • Provide both didactic and laboratory (clinical hands on) instruction as needed. Is responsible for all teaching activities in that specialty. May delegate specific teaching assignments to others as appropriate.
  • Validate clinical competencies and counsel students based on classroom and clinical scores and documented competencies.
  • Assist in the development and enforce overall school policies, as well as those which apply specifically to a particular program.
  • Maintain current knowledge of student clinical progress, particularly through feedback from certified clinical evaluators. Record and document specific competencies for each student based on feedback and observations.
  • In conjunction with the Program Director, make recommendations and help define agreements with Brown University Health and non‑Brown University Health facilities to establish new clinical sites for students. Once established, oversee program related operations with respect to student and program satisfaction and compliance with approving agencies.
  • Oversee individual student’s progress. Provide counseling to help and support student progress through the program. Make recommendations regarding student’s continued status in the program.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the professional discipline, regulatory standards and educational methodologies through continuing professional development and pursuit of scholarly activities.
  • Represent program and department at hospital meetings and activities, and to external agencies and organizations as requested. Meet with administrators, physicians, and clinical affiliates on related issues as required.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate curriculum and educational materials to ensure compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for conflict resolution and recommend solutions to clinical‑related issues.
  • Conduct clinical assessments and evaluations, track student progress, and provide timely feedback.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop strategies for continuous improvement in the clinical education program.
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation for accreditation purposes and to support regulatory compliance.
  • Serve as a liaison between the academic institution(s), hospital staff, and regulatory bodies to ensure seamless integration of the educational program.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
  • Write and communicate effectively with all parties.
  • Analyze ability to assess federal and state laws and their impact on educational program, and collect statistics for accreditation process and for other uses of this information.
