Overview

FSRI is seeking a part-time Safe Care provider to deliver the Safe Care program to caregivers in their home. Safe Care offers evidence-based training for at-risk parents of children aged 0-5. The primary goal is to prevent child abuse and neglect through proactive support and education. The Safe Care program covers three topic areas:
Parent-Infant/Child Interactions, Home Safety, and Child Health. The role involves administration of pre- and post-assessments (ASQ and NCFAS) to help identify any other needs that the children and families may have which would require additional referrals for services. The Safe Care part-time provider will be part of a dedicated team of trained Safe Care Providers who deliver compassionate care under the supervision of our skilled Coach/Trainer.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver the Safe Care program to caregivers in their home.
  • Administer pre- and post-assessments (ASQ and NCFAS) to identify additional needs for referral.
  • Work as part of a team of Safe Care Providers under supervision of a Coach/Trainer.
  • Maintain fidelity to the model while engaging parents with creativity and flexibility.
  • Be open to supervision and coaching feedback/evaluation.
  • Work independently and as part of an interdependent team.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a human service related field or equivalent experience.
  • At least one year of experience providing home visiting services is required; experience with young children and their families and/or families involved in child welfare is preferred.
  • Commitment to and skill at building relationships with under-resourced, at-risk families.
  • Comfort going into homes that may be cluttered, dirty, dark, and not air-conditioned.
  • Willingness to learn and deliver a highly structured intervention with fidelity, with Certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Ability to engage parents effectively and be creative and flexible in service delivery while maintaining fidelity to the model.
  • Open to supervision and coaching feedback/evaluation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and proof of automobile insurance and registration required.
  • Strong computer and internet skills.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills highly preferred.
  • Bilingual/ASL skills are compensated by an additional 6%, above base pay.
  • Multilingual skills are compensated by an additional 8%, above base pay.
Physical Requirements
  • Travel to and from community locations and agency sites, which could include using walkways, stairs and/or elevators.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
