SummaryUnder the supervision of a pharmacist and the direction of a technician group leader or technician specialist, performs a variety of technical and support tasks designed to assist pharmacists in the formulation, preparation, dispensing and delivery of medications and pharmaceutical supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures, federal and state rules, and regulations.
Responsibilities- Assist the pharmacist in the formulation and preparation of medications, including reviewing practitioner medication orders and preparing medications for review and dispensing by a pharmacist.
- Operate an electronic drug dispensing system (EDDS) for inventory control and distribution of pharmaceuticals and related supplies.
- Prepare intravenous admixtures and non-sterile pharmaceutical products in a controlled environment according to USP 797 and USP 795 procedures.
- Perform controlled substance discrepancy resolution and participate in controlled substance inventory management.
- Deliver medications to clinic, procedural, treatment, operating room, and patient care areas; retrieve medication orders and repackage and label medications for distribution.
- Maintain pharmacy records, perform equipment maintenance and calibration, and participate in quality assessment and medication safety initiatives.
- Assist in orientation and training of other pharmacy technicians and interns.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Completion of one to two years of college preferred.
- Current unrestricted Rhode Island Pharmacy Technician licensure required.
- Current National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) or one-year licensed pharmacy technician work experience; sit for the CPhT exam within the first six months of hire and achieve and maintain CPhT within 12 months of hire.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
Pay Range $21.72–$22.23
