Brown University Health is seeking a Radiology Information System (IS) Administrator to coordinate Diagnostic Imaging Information Systems (DIIS) activities under the supervision of the Director of Diagnostic Imaging Information Systems.
SummaryResponsible for the day‑to‑day operation of the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and Voice Recognition System (VR). Coordinates all interfaces, system upgrades, and ensures DIIS systems meet the needs of hospitals, physicians, and the Diagnostic Imaging department. Responsibilities- Monitors daily performance of DIIS systems to ensure optimal utilization.
- Provides user orientation, training, and support for system functions.
- Responds to user questions on system functionality, capabilities, usage, and limitations.
- Participates in the development, modification, and maintenance of systems, including dictation, patient and procedure information, statistics, and billing codes.
- Updates, defines, and deactivates codes as appropriate; keeps data tables current and accurate.
- Communicates system changes to users, follows up to ensure procedures are followed.
- Designs, develops, and produces reports (statistical data, patient charges, inventories, quality assurance).
- Develops and modifies policies and procedures related to RIS, PACS, and VR systems.
- Participates in Diagnostic Imaging IS and operational meetings to develop enterprise‑wide system solutions.
- Designs, develops, and maintains the Diagnostic Imaging website.
- Manages user privileges within DIIS systems.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Basic knowledge: completion of a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
- Two years’ experience in PACS/RIS administration in a diagnostic imaging department, including hardware and software interface maintenance.
- Knowledge and skills to provide patient care considerations regarding aging, human development stages, and cultural patterns.
