SUMMARY:
The Medical Laboratory Technician in the Fertility Clinic is responsible for collecting, preparing, analyzing, and transporting semen samples to support diagnostic testing and fertility treatments. This role involves patient interaction, precise laboratory handling, and strict adherence to quality and regulatory guidelines. The technician ensures accurate processing and timely delivery of specimens to affiliated hospitals or clinical partners. Collection & Patient Interaction
- Provide clear instructions to patients on semen collection procedures in accordance with clinic protocols.
- Ensure proper identification, labeling, and chain-of-custody for all specimens.
- Maintain a professional, discreet, and supportive environment during patient-facing interactions.
- Perform semen analysis and preparation, including liquefaction, concentration, motility assessment, and morphology evaluation as applicable.
- Prepare samples for intrauterine insemination (IUI) or other clinical procedures per established protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of sample quality, processing steps, and laboratory observations.
- Package and transport prepared semen samples to partner hospitals or clinics following safety and temperature-control requirements.
- Coordinate delivery timing with clinical teams to meet procedure schedules.
- Document transport activities to ensure full traceability and compliance.
- Follow all laboratory safety procedures and aseptic handling standards.
- Perform routine equipment checks, cleaning, calibration, and basic troubleshooting.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and inform supervisors when reordering is needed.
- Comply with regulatory standards such as CLIA, CAP, OSHA, and internal quality systems.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s degree in Biology, Medical Laboratory Science, Biotechnology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of related experience.
- Basic laboratory experience, typically 1 year or more, in a clinical, medical, or research setting.
- Familiarity with microscopy and specimen-handling techniques.
- Knowledge of reproductive health laboratory protocols and regulatory standards.
- Experience working in an andrology laboratory or fertility clinic preferred.
- Certification such as MLT or MLS (ASCP) or equivalent training in clinical laboratory procedures preferred.

Pay Range: $24.29-$40.07
