Base pay range
$80.00/hr - $100.00/hr
Reporting to senior leadership, the Director of HR & Payroll Systems will oversee the planning, organization, and management of all activities related to HR and payroll information systems. This role ensures accurate payroll processing, supports human resources management information needs, and maintains compliance with regulatory requirements. The Director will build and lead a team of HR/payroll systems professionals, collaborate across departments, and serve as a liaison between HR, Finance, and IT to align operational and system priorities.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement short- and long-term goals for HR and payroll systems in consultation with leadership and departmental managers.
- Collaborate with HR managers to coordinate initiatives that impact HR/payroll systems and payroll processes.
- Participate in creating and updating HR policies and procedures affecting system operations and data accuracy.
- Hire, manage, and develop a team of HR/payroll systems staff, providing guidance, performance evaluations, and career development plans.
- Recommend and administer payroll policies and procedures to ensure accurate and efficient payroll processing.
- Monitor work quality to maintain high standards of accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance.
- Develop annual operating and capital budgets for HR/payroll systems operations.
- Ensure payroll practices comply with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Lead or support HR/payroll-related projects and system enhancements.
- Work with HR and payroll managers to refine accounting practices, procedures, and systems to improve payroll processes.
- Coordinate audits and incident reports to ensure data accuracy.
- Manage interactions with governmental agencies, banks, attorneys, and outsourced vendors related to payroll and HR systems.
- Participate in cross-functional teams, process improvement initiatives, and other organizational committees as needed.
- Maintain quality assurance, safety, and regulatory compliance within HR/payroll systems operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Human Resources, or related field
- 6–10 years of progressively responsible experience managing HR and payroll systems, preferably in a complex, automated environment
- Comprehensive knowledge of payroll regulations, reporting requirements, and HR operations
- Familiarity with enterprise HRMS systems and timekeeping/scheduling applications
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
- Experience supervising staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management
