Job SummaryBrown HRPP is growing and the Associate HRPP Administrator will manage the daily administration and implementation of the Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) and Institutional Review Board (IRB) policies and procedures related to the conduct of human subjects research studies at Brown University, Lifespan, and Care New England. The role serves as the primary point of contact for the HRPP, manages the IRB inbox, and collaborates with faculty, staff, and students.

Key Responsibilities- Daily administration and implementation of the HRPP and IRB policies and procedures.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the HRPP and manage the IRB inbox.
- Manage intake and pre‑review of protocol submissions in the electronic Huron system.
- Prepare meeting agendas, materials, and manage attendance for IRB Committee meetings.
- Collaborate with HRPP staff, IRB members, and faculty, staff, and students.
- Assist on special projects as needed.
- Education and Experience:
- Required:
Bachelor’s degree and 0‑2 years of related experience, or Associate’s degree and 2+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination. - Preferred:
Experience working in an academic or hospital/clinical research setting. - Preferred:
At least 1 year of related experience in research compliance administration or conducting research. - Preferred:
Awareness of federal regulations protecting human subjects. - Preferred:
Experience with electronic submission systems. - Competencies:
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding human subjects research and institutional policies.
- Ability to handle confidential documents and sensitive information.
- Experience managing high volumes and strict deadlines with attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize workloads, and work independently using sound judgment.
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Team collaboration and inclusion mindset.
- Ongoing professional development in research ethics.
- Proficiency in the electronic IRB submission system and common software (Microsoft Office, Google platforms, Adobe).
- Ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment.
