API Engineer

Job Description

Required:

• 10-15 years' experience with Apigee and Azure API Management.

• Lead the design and implementation of API solutions using Apigee and Azure API Management.

• Must have knowledge of SQL, including stored procedures.

• Knowledge of Grafana and Terraform is an added advantage.

• API release & configuration management.

• Understanding of Dev Ops pipelines.

• Familiarity with Scrum processes.

• Develop and enforce API policies for security, rate limiting, and service orchestration.

• Collaborate with development teams to integrate APIs with existing business applications and services.

• Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of API solutions.

• Manage the full lifecycle of APIs, from design to deprecation.

• Lead and mentor a team of API developers, promoting best practices in coding and API design.

• Work with business analysts, project managers, and stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

• Monitor API usage and performance; troubleshoot issues.

• Stay updated with latest trends in API management and recommend improvements.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.

• Proven experience as a technical lead or senior developer with Apigee and Azure API Management.

• Strong understanding of API design principles and security standards (OAuth, OpenID Connect, JWT).

• Proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, or .NET.

• Leadership and team management skills.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Excellent communication skills.

Preferred

Skills:

• Certifications in Apigee and Azure API Management.

• Experience with other API management tools like Mule Soft or AWS API Gateway.

• Knowledge of microservices architecture and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
