Physical Security Technician II – Brown University

Join Brown University’s Department of Public Safety to support technology for 24/7 security operations. The Technician II works with Technician III and other technicians to maintain and improve security systems across campus.

• Service, maintenance, and repair of IP Video Security Systems, Access Control, Panic, Intrusion Alarm Systems, and other public safety technology.
• Recommend system improvements, evaluate systems, identify repairs, and follow best practices and SOPs.
• Participate in on‑call rotation to answer calls/emails after normal hours and on weekends/holidays.
• Perform tasks in accordance with CJIS requirements and background investigation.
• Maintain immunization requirements.

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience with Video Security (CCTV), Access Control Systems, Alarm & Intrusion Systems, Intercoms, Basic Computer Networking, Telecommunications.
• Hands‑on experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Video Security and Access Control Systems.
• Proficiency in reading architectural, network, or electrical layouts and diagrams.
• Strong technical troubleshooting and support skills for 24x7 operation.
• Project management skills in planning and monitoring projects in cross‑functional environments.

• CCURE 9000 Installer Certified, Genetec Security Center Certified, State of RI Telecommunications Data License.
• Experience with DSC Alarm Systems, Genetec, Software House.
• Knowledge of Axis products.

• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Climb ladder up to 15 ft.
• Travel across campus; use hand and power tools.

• Background check from Brown Public Safety.
• Required immunizations and boosters.
