Job Description
As the Chief Leadership & Talent Development Officer, you will play an integral executive leadership role, serving as a trusted partner and representative of Leadership Rhode Island. Under the direct supervision of the CEO & Executive Director, the Chief Leadership & Talent Development Officer provides high-level partnership building, business development, and strategic oversight of leadership development programs (Core, Senior Fellows, Pathways, Propel) and training initiatives to support broader workforce and leadership development goals.
The role provides cross-departmental leadership and coaching, focusing on alignment, collaboration, and growth to drive scalability. As a member of the executive leadership team, the Chief Leadership & Talent Development Officer serves as a bridge between long-term vision, strategy, and execution with a focus on strategic employer and organizational partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
• Create and execute partnership strategies, aligned with organizational objectives, to drive revenue to ensure continuous and sustainable growth in support of LRI’s mission.
• Develop and steward relationships with employers and organizations across sectors and industries to support their workforce goals and business objectives through participation in LRI leadership development programs and training services.
• Oversee business development process for training and consulting services – enhancing systems for prospecting, developing, and negotiating complex partnership agreements, and securing new business.
• Oversee lead research and qualification, recruitment, and selection processes across all leadership development programs to meet and exceed recruitment and revenue targets.
• Conduct market research to inspire new ideas and strategies.
• Identify areas of synergy and alignment between leadership development and training departments, creating systems and processes for cross-departmental collaboration, innovation, and efficiency.
• Assess offerings across leadership development and training departments, collaborating with team members to ensure consistent impact and, when appropriate, identifying opportunities to build new offerings.
• Support departmental facilitation needs for meetings, trainings, and programming, as appropriate.
• Contribute to building departmental goals and impact measurement, evaluating progress, and recommending improvements as needed.
• Provide high-level oversight of department budgets, in collaboration with team members, to ensure progress towards budget goals.
Cross-Departmental Coaching & Executive Alignment
• Supervise and coach the Senior Leadership Development Manager, Senior Training Manager, and Leadership Development Manager by providing direction and feedback. When appropriate, provide executive alignment and support to all members of the Leadership Development and Training & Consulting teams.
• Collaborate with senior leadership team members to develop and shape organizational strategy, systems, and culture.
• Model leadership at the organizational level, helping to steward the CEO & Executive Director’s vision and support a culture of continuous learning, shared responsibility, and organizational excellence.
• Act as a supportive resource for broader organizational initiatives.
• Contribute to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace and collaborative learning environment.
• Maintain the integrity of data and drive database improvement and utilization.
• Ability to travel locally to trainings and events (statewide).
