The Finishing Associate uses hand and power tools on completed manufactured product to correct minor defects, deburr parts, smooth and prepare surfaces and to polish product. Sand/Bead blast parts as needed to ANCORP specifications. Wash, clean, and de-grease final product by hand or with the use of automated cleaning equipment. Finishing Associate is an entry level position and may be asked to help in other areas of the Manufacturing floor as needed.
EssentialFunctions
- Grind, sand, clean or polish parts to correct minor defects or to prepare surfaces for further finishing, using hand tools and power tools.
- Select files or other abrasives, according to material, size and shape of work pieces.
- Verify quality of finished work pieces by inspecting them and verifying they meet the established quality and finish standards established by the company or customer.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Operate polishing machine(s).
- Operate glass peen (bead blast) machine as needed.
- Clean and perform basic maintenance on polishing equipment daily.
- Perform machine preventative maintenance as needed or when required.
- Ensure that work is performed in a safe and timely manner.
- Operate product wash equipment and water supplies.
- Maintain correct temperature and mixtures on wash equipment per work instructions.
- Maintain and verify cleanliness of parts and product.
- Monitors equipment to maintain utmost efficiency and proper equipment functions.
- Informs maintenance or Floor Lead of equipment failures, breakdowns or operational issues.
- Continually looks to improve process and flow from wash through rinse and dry while maintaining quality.
- Responsible for adhering to safety standards and company safety policies.
- See that the Quality Policy and all quality assurance procedures are maintained.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- High School Diploma, GED and/or Technical School Graduate or industry recognized certification.
- Must have basic math skills.
- Able to read, write, and have a working knowledge of English.
- A knowledge of technical drawings is required.
- Capable of distinguishing between different metals, stainless steel, aluminum and brass.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
