Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and following hospital and department policies, a Nursing Assistant assists in caring for patients and families from admission to discharge. Responsibilities include providing personal care, basic nursing, rehabilitation, and maintaining a safe environment.

Skills:
assist with activities of daily living, ambulates patients as appropriate. - Maintain a Safe Environment: report unsafe conditions, equipment issues to RN, manager, or supervisor.
- Recognize and report signs and symptoms: communicate observations to RN.
- Support Safety: maintain quality assurance and infection control per hospital policies and procedures.
- Accurately document data in the EHR, patient care flowsheet, and clinical data records; demonstrate ability to perform responsibilities in emergency/code situations.
- May function as a patient observer.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Current Rhode Island license as a Nursing Assistant.
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Basic computer skills.
- Certified in American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
- Knowledge and skills to provide care to patients throughout the life span, considering aging processes, developmental stages, and cultural patterns.
- One-year experience as a Nursing Assistant preferred.
Works in acute care hospitals, physicians’ offices, and ancillary health care enterprises. Prolonged sitting, standing, and walking. Repeated bending, squatting, and stooping. May be required to lift/turn patients and equipment.
Independent ActionWorks under the supervision of the Registered Nurse; refers complex problems to supervisor when clarification of policies or procedures is required.
Pay Range$17.00–$25.31
