Position: Restaurant Server/Bartender (Full time)/Renaissance St. Louis Airport Hotel

Responsibilities

  • Greet all guests in a warm and enthusiastic manner and assist host or hostess in seating guests as needed.
  • Present menu, answer questions, and make suggestions regarding food, service, appropriate wines, and food preparation.
  • Memorize menu selections and wines, including daily specials and basic ingredients.
  • Use proper verbiage and etiquette including serving ladies first.
  • Write order on check or memorize order.
  • Relay order to kitchen and service bar using a point of sale system.
  • Observe guests to fulfill additional requests and to perceive when the meal has been completed for checkout.
  • Total the bill and accept payment or refer the guest to cashier.
  • Ladle soup, portion pies and desserts, and brew coffee.
  • Clear and reset counters or tables at the conclusion of each course.
  • Assist in cleaning and wiping down service and prep areas.
  • Notify a manager immediately of any guest complaints.
  • Practice and observe all safety rules and procedures.
  • Assist all service personnel in any duties as requested.
  • Maintain and follow all cash handling procedures.
  • Use proper etiquette guidelines for seating guests.
  • Ask department telephone using proper telephone etiquette.
Requirements
  • Minimum lifting of 50 pounds.
  • Pushing, bending, stooping, upward reaching, and manual dexterity.
  • Hearing, writing, and typing abilities.
  • Minimum pulling of 50 pounds.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of all hotel departments and functions.
  • Must be knowledgeable of applicable Federal, state, and local health, safety, and legal regulations.
  • Must have good mathematical and computer skills.
  • High school education preferred; relevant training and experience required.
  • Ability to timely obtain any required licenses or certificates.
  • CPR training and first aid training preferred.
  • Additional language ability preferred.
