Assistant Coach, Men's Crew

Job Description

This part‑time, 11‑month position assists the Head Coach and Assistant Coaches of the men’s crew varsity program in all aspects of coaching, including instruction of student‑athletes, recruitment of prospective student‑athletes, and compliance with NCAA and Ivy League Conference administrative requirements.

Major Tasks
  • Coaching practice sessions, workouts, and competitions.
  • Recruiting and identifying potential student‑athletes.
  • Assisting the Head Coach and Assistant Coach in overall program management as directed.
Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Coaching experience at collegiate, professional, high school, or club level preferred.

Job Competencies

  • Ability to recruit within NCAA and Ivy League rules.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, and computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and relate well to students.
  • Excellent sport‑specific technical, tactical and strategic knowledge.
  • Willingness to support a diverse and inclusive environment.
  • Basic proficiency in Excel, Word, internet and email capabilities.
  • Social media experience, helpful.
  • Familiarity with ARMS and Teamworks, or similar, preferred.
  • Experience with video editing software, helpful.
  • Commitment to the student‑athlete, passion for the game, and ability to coach and motivate.

Final hiring requirements include a successful criminal background check, educational verification, and DMV check. All employees are required to demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and compliance with NCAA rules. Annual NCAA recruiting education and current AED/CPR and First Aid certification are required.
