Title:
Lifeguard
Brown University Athletics and Recreation is seeking candidates for the seasonal Lifeguard position. This position is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center pool patrons (Brown students, faculty, staff, alumni, coaches, administrators, RISD students & faculty and general community members) by preventing and responding to emergencies.
ResponsibilitiesActively supervise the pool area, monitor for safety hazards, respond to emergencies, enforce facility rules, maintain a safe environment, perform rescues, and provide first aid and CPR as needed.
Education and Experience- High School Diploma/GED.
- Current certification in American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR for the Professional Rescuer, or equivalent.
- Successfully demonstrate swim and rescue skills:
Swim Test;
Brick Test;
Legs Only Tread;
Rescue Skills Scenarios;
Spinal Injury Management; CPR/AED/First Aid Scenarios. - Act swiftly in emergency situations using aquatic rescue equipment.
- Knowledge and application of lifeguarding skills and rescue techniques to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until Brown emergency services arrives.
- Make quick decisions and take decisive action. Assertive in enforcing facility rules and regulations consistently in a professional and customer service-oriented manner.
- Support a diverse and inclusive environment.
- Leadership and public relations skills.
- Responsible, alert, dependable and on time for scheduled shift.
All division employees are required to demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations; duties performed must be in compliance with all NCAA, Ivy League rules and regulations.
