Overview
Brown University Non-CDL Evening Shuttle Bus / Van Driver. We are currently on the lookout for an experienced Bus Driver to join our elite team in Providence, Rhode Island for shuttle and van operations serving Brown University, Rhode Island School of Design, and Rhode Island College. You will ensure safe and comfortable transportation for passengers while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and customer service.
We are hiring for Full Time and Part Time - Evening Positions. Qualified applicants must have or be able to obtain a Rhode Island Chauffeur’s License through the DMV and an RI-PUC Blue Card.
Compensation & Benefits- Full-Time & Part-Time Evening Shifts
- Starting pay: $19.75 per hour; increase to $22.25 after 6 months
- Pay range: $19.75 - $24.25 under the Union Collective Bargaining Agreement; additional increases in July 2026 and July 2027 to a top rate of $24.25

Key Responsibilities- Safety-Focused Operations: execute routes and schedules safely, follow traffic regulations, and adhere to safety protocols.
- Passenger Care: assist passengers, ensure smooth boarding, comfortable rides, and timely disembarkation.
- Vehicle Vigilance: perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, report maintenance issues, maintain cleanliness and safety equipment readiness.
- Adherence to Protocols: uphold company policies, enforce seat belts, preparedness for emergencies, and regulatory compliance.
- Other duties as required.
- 21 years or older
- Ability to obtain a Rhode Island Chauffeur’s License
- Minimum 3 years of driving experience (personal or professional)
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Availability to work day, evening, weekend, and overnight shifts as assigned
- Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical where applicable; DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 prohibits the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis
- Must be able to work shifts or flexible schedules as needed
- Long periods of sitting or computer work may be required
- Work environment will be indoors and outdoors
