Program Specialist – Summer Camp
Girl Scouts of Utah is hiring a seasonal Program Specialist for our Summer Camp. The role focuses on creating memorable experiences for campers while upholding the mission of Girl Scouts of Utah.
Employment DatesMay 24, 2026 – July 23, 2026
Day in the Life- Plan and provide a progressive archery, challenge course, and hatchet throwing program with Program Coordinators.
- Develop an art program for all campers.
- Teach and assist high‑adventure or art programs; support unit counselors under Head Counselors.
- Assist with basic camp operations.
- Implement safety guidelines and standards set by Girl Scouts of the USA, the American Camp Association, and applicable state/local codes.
- Pass a criminal background check, including sex‑offender registries and driving records.
- Obtain Red Cross First Aid & CPR certifications or equivalent.
- Obtain a Utah Food Handlers’ Permit.
- Complete Youth Protection Training within the first week of employment.
- Communicate effectively with campers ages 6‑17 and provide clear verbal instruction.
- Follow directions from team leaders and adhere to policies and procedures.
- Understand and enforce safety guidelines and standards from Girl Scouts of the USA, the American Camp Association, and state/local codes.
- Observe camper behavior, assess appropriateness, enforce safety, and apply behavior‑management techniques.
- Respond appropriately in crisis situations.
- Commit to the mission and values of Girl Scouts of Utah; act as a representative of the council.
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers from diverse backgrounds.
- Lift, move, and carry items up to 50 pounds.
- Walk, stand, and work on uneven terrain for up to 10,000 steps per day.
- Live and work at high elevation (up to 9,200 ft) and in extreme weather.
- Respond to environmental hazards at camp.
Daily pay: $82 per full day.
Completion bonus: $10 per day for staff who work through the entire season with no more than six missed days.
Total compensation can reach approximately $4,002 depending on days worked and location.
